MSS And Vantive: Driving Hemodialysis Innovation in Germany

HECHINGEN, GERMANY -In a critical push to address the evolving complexities of renal care, Med Surg Solutions (MSS) concluded a high-level, CPD-accredited summit titled `Meeting Unmet Needs In Hemodialysis Care,` the three-day intensive factory visit to our partners Vantive and the clinical symposium ran from June 8 to June 10, 2026, gathering top-tier nephrologists from KSA.

The primary focus of the summit was the rapid advancement of HD Therapy, anchored by breakthrough clinical data demonstrating that HDx (Expanded Hemodialysis) Therapy can deliver a 25% lower patient mortality risk. Driven by the MSS mandate `Together Empowering Health Impacting Lives` the event bridged the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world clinical application.

The Architecture of the Summit

Rather than a standard conference, MSS architected an immersive experience that integrated clinical lectures with direct exposure to Vantive manufacturing operations. The summit was facilitated by a distinguished faculty of global and regional Key Opinion Leaders:

  • Dr. Kamel Al Attar: Nephrologist & Head of Medical Affairs for Acute Therapies at Vantive ECEMEA.
  • Dr. Monera Al Qathami: Nephrologist, Internal Medicine and Renal Transplant Consultant at the Ministry of Health, Saudi Arabia.
  • Mr. Markus Storr: Director of R&D at Vantive.
  • Mr. Ralf Hoffmann: Senior Manager of Production at Vantive.

Day 1: Confronting the Clinical Gap

Following welcome remarks from Mrs. Hind Kattar, Clinical and Education Leader at MSS, the day's agenda heavily focused on the clinical efficacy of HDx Therapy. Dr. Kamel Al Attar led foundational sessions on the latest updates in Uremic Toxins, followed by a deep dive into HDx Safety, Efficacy, and Indications. Providing a vital bridge to regional implementation, Dr. Monera Al Qathami presented compelling data on HDx experience and patient outcomes specifically within Saudi Arabia. The intersection of unmet clinical needs and technological solutions was further explored by Mr. Markus Storr in his session, `Innovation meeting the need: HDx meeting the gap.`

Day 2: From R&D to the Manufacturing Floor

The focus shifted toward the technological evolution and operational reality of modern dialyzers. Mr. Markus Storr opened the morning by mapping the `History of Vantive Dialyzers` and outlining critical knowledge for the dialyzers used today.

Moving from theory to practice, attendees were then granted an exclusive MCO Plant Tour inside Vantive’s manufacturing site led by Mr. Ralf Hoffmann, providing unprecedented transparency into the production standards that underpin Vantive's life-saving technologies.

Day 3: Optimizing Access and Preventing Infection

The final day expanded the conversation to encompass holistic patient safety and vascular access.

  • Vascular Grafting: Mr. Azzam Malaeb, Key Account Manager at MSS, presented on the GORE® ACUSEAL® Vascular Graft, detailing how the technology is optimized for early cannulation while providing uncompromised handling for surgeons.
  • Infection Control: Highlighting the critical need to `Protect all lines. Protect all Lives,` Mrs. Hind Kattar closed the summit with a presentation on the BIOPATCH Protective Disk with CHG.

By convening the brightest minds in Hechingen, MSS has reinforced its position as a central catalyst for healthcare modernization, ensuring that the latest advancements in hemodialysis are swiftly and safely integrated into the GCC and ME healthcare systems.
